las vegas

During our 3 months living in Vegas we only have gone to the strip once. That one time was to see the Blue Man Group for my birthday. Although I loved the show, the atmosphere of the strip we could pass on. We decided to hold off on visiting the strip again for a while until a few days ago when Dave got tickets for the High Roller Las Vegas and then randomly scored 2 free tickets for a concert that night. We were excited to give the strip another chance and I am so glad we did. We had a wonderful time and found some places we would love to visit again.
The High Roller was more fun then I expected. We ended up getting our own cabin for the 30 minute ride. Here is a description of what the High Roller is off of their website: "Measuring 520 feet in diameter, the High Roller eclipses both the London Eye and Singapore Flyer. Facing north and south parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard, the wheel takes 30 minutes to complete one full revolution and features 28 glass-enclosed cabins with broad views of Las Vegas and the Strip. Each spherical cabin can hold up to 40 people, with benches on either side of the cabin and plenty of floor space in between—but we imagine you'll want to stand and admire the view." via

There is a beautiful new Promenade right outside the High Roller with a ton of great restaurants and a few shops. Although it is right off the strip, this area has more of an upscale feel to it. A great spot to check out for dinner. We decided to go to the Yard House which had an incredible amount of options on their menu and the food was delicious. After dinner we were walking outside at the perfect time because they were spraying fake snow all over the place! It was so fun to see the snow falling around the palm trees.

We then headed to Bally's for the concert Dave got the free tickets for. The tickets ended up being for a VIP table right under the band! It was a 50/60's group and we had so much fun. We never would have bought those tickets on our own but I am so glad we went! Afterwards, we wandered around the Paris Las Vegas hotel which felt like a little fake Europe. I loved it!

Before heading home, we stopped for a mini cupcake at Sprinkles while walking thru the promenade by the High Roller. Perfect way to end a perfect evening.

I am so glad we had such a good time because it reminded us we won't be here forever and we should look forward to taking advantage of all the good Vegas has to offer us while we are here. Even though this certainly isn't our dream city to live in, why not make the most of the fun shows and things to do.
Cheers to a fresh outlook and more fun in the near future in our current home base!
